MacLehose Trailwalker

The MacleHose Trailwalker (website) is an iconic Hong Kong 100km trail race that began in 1981 as a training exercise for the Queen's Gurkha Signals unit of Nepalese soldiers in the British Army during Hong Kong's colonial days. Since opening the event to civilians in 1986, nearly 100,000 participants have raised over HKD 530 million (EUR 58 million) to support various poverty alleviation and emergency relief projects in Africa and Asia. In teams of four, Trailwalkers have 48 hours to complete the 100km MacLehose Trail that begins in Pak Tam Chung in Sai Kung Country Park and ends at Tai Tong Holiday Camp in Tai Lam Country Park, Yuen Long.

CWS

Team CWS is raising funds for the charity ‘Child Welfare Scheme' (CWS) in Nepal. CWS (website) is dedicated to supporting and empowering disadvantaged and vulnerable children, young people and women in Nepal through projects that focus on protection, education, health care and opportunities. The aim is to empower children and communities to create a brighter future for themselves.

Fundraising

The Dutch CWS team raised over HKD 200,000 (EUR 22,000) in each of the past three years. The generous donations contributed to the improvement of the Primary School infrastructure and Play and Sports Materials for 6 primary schools, refresher training for 10 Primary School teachers, and Book Corners for 12 Primary Schools. This year, our goal is to raise at least HKD 200,000 (EUR 22,000) for the various projects undertaken by CWS as further described below.
