General Manager Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong
The Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (the “Chamber”) is an independent, member-driven, not-for-profit business organisation promote and foster Dutch businesses from the Netherlands or with an interest in the Netherlands to/from Hong Kong. The objective of the Chamber is to support and grow its members' commercial activities in Hong Kong by facilitating networking, knowledge sharing and company profiling opportunities.
We are currently recruiting a part-time General Manager (24-hour workweek). The General Manager reports to the Board of Directors and is supported by the office team and the various members Committees.
The General Manager is responsible for:
▪ Development and implementation of the strategic and marketing direction of the Chamber
▪ Organising, planning, managing and overseeing the Chamber’s events (50+ seminars, workshops and social events per year)
▪ Work closely with the Committees for the effective delivery of events of the Chamber, providing content and speaker coordination, sponsor recommendations and other advice
▪ Provide guidance and support on monthly Committee meetings and helping in to develop annual plans and activities of Committees in consultation with Committee Chairs
▪ Develop communication content related to its activities to drive interest, engagement, sponsorship and membership for distribution on the Chamber LinkedIn account, website, newsletter and other platforms
▪ Managing the day-to-day operations of the Chamber
▪ Leading, training and motivating the Chamber’s office team (2-3 staff)
▪ Managing the Chamber’s budget and P&L
▪ Report monthly to the Board of Directors on its strategy, finance and activities
▪ Assist and attend at Chamber functions and events as requested from time to time (includes working out of normal office hours as requested)
▪ Maintaining and expanding the membership base of the Chamber
▪ Maintaining and building relationships with governmental and non-governmental institutions, other business associations, media and other stakeholders
▪ Members representation and advocacy
The successful candidate:
▪ is a self-motivated leader as well as a team player with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while managing multiple priorities
▪ has strong networking abilities and a professional demeanour in interactions with senior officials and stakeholders.
▪ has strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft persuasive messaging
▪ has excellent organisational and project management capabilities
▪ has familiarity with social media platforms, content management systems, and event management software.
▪ is proficient in Microsoft 365 and an advantage in other relevant software such as Canva, Glue Up etc.
▪ has excellent marketing and communications skills
▪ is a strategic thinker
▪ is flexible and versatile
▪ has an affinity with the Netherlands and/or the Dutch
▪ speaks and writes immaculate English (with Dutch and/or Cantonese language skills as clear additional benefits)
▪ has a minimum of 7 years relevant work experience of which at least 2 years in a management position
