I would like to set up a business in Hong Kong. How can the Dutch Chamber help me?

Every year, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce publishes the ‘Guide to Setting-Up a Business in Hong Kong’. This guide contains practical information on issues like visa applications, tax and finance procedures, and includes a list of useful contacts in Hong Kong.

Furthermore, the Dutch Chamber has a broad network in a wide range of industries. It is advisable to attend one of our many networking events and to get to know the members of the Dutch Chamber. Moreover, you can always contact us for an introductory meeting.

I am looking for a job in Hong Kong. How can the Dutch Chamber help me?

We could place a job advertisement for you. Please click here to see the current job ads.

Such an advertisement costs HKD 200 and for this amount, we place your ad for a period of 6 months on the website, twice in our Upcoming News & Events newsletter and once in our Dutch Chamber bi-monthly magazine. Through these advertisements we often successfully place candidates.

Furthermore, we recommend you to attend our networking events, in order to get in touch with members of the Dutch Chamber.

I would like to do an internship at the Dutch Chamber, do you have vacancies?

Since we are a very small organisation with only 3 staff, our capacity to place interns within our organisation is unfortunately very limited. When we do happen to have an internship vacancy, we will place this on our website. To have a look at current vacancies for internships/jobs, click here.

I am looking for a list of Dutch businesses in Hong Kong. Does the Dutch Chamber provide this?

Every year, we publish a business directory in hard copy and in soft copy with the details of all the members of the Dutch Chamber. This guide is only available for Dutch Chamber members. If you are interested to become a member, click here. To login to our online directory, click here.

I would like to enter the Chinese market. How can the Dutch Chamber help me?

Many of our members do business in China. Accordingly, it is recommendable to attend our network events and get in touch with members that operate in China.

You can contact us for a meeting, to see if we are able to direct you to useful contacts. The Dutch government has a few helpful tools to help you to enter the Chinese market. There are Dutch Consulate Generals in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Chongqing and Guangzhou, and an Embassy in Beijing.

You can request a market scan at the economic department of the Dutch Consulate General in Hong Kong. Also, you could contact one of the six Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSO’s), which are located in Chengdu, Dalian, Jinan, Nanjing, Qingdao and Wuhan.

Furthermore, you can contact the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, which has offices in Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai.

I have a business in Hong Kong and would like to promote my business amongst the Dutch Chamber members.

Firstly, the Dutch Chamber offers many different advertisement opportunities in our magazine, our business directory, our ‘Guide to Setting-up a business in Hong Kong’, on our website and in our newsletter. For more information click here.

If you would like to expose your business in a different way, an idea is to support one of our events. We are always looking for people that would like to speak during our seminars. If you think you have an interesting topic to share with our members, do not hesitate to contact us and discuss the different possibilities of setting up an event with us.

We always welcome people to write an article for our magazine. When your article is suitable for our magazine, we place it free of charge. Our magazine is distributed to +/- 700 businesses and individuals in Hong Kong, and accordingly is a useful tool to gain exposure for your business.

What is the difference between the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and the ‘Kamer van Koophandel’?

Contrary to the Dutch ‘Kamers van Koophandel’, the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong receives no government funding. It is a non-profit company, founded & funded by its members, the Dutch business community in Hong Kong.

When you set up a business in the Netherlands, it is obligatory to register your company with the Kamer van Koophandel. Your company is then included in the Trade Register, which is accessible to all businesses in the Netherlands, free of charge. The Kamer van Koophandel also employs expert staff, such as international trade consultants, which can assist you when importing or exporting from the Netherlands.

In Hong Kong, it is not obligatory to register your company with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce. The Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong can be seen as a more exclusive business club, which organizes events to create a network platform for its members. Our list of members is only accessible to other Dutch Chamber members. We are a very small organization with only 3 staff members, and do not employ trade consultants. However, we are more than happy to help you with finding the right contacts in Hong Kong.

How do I sign up for a committee? Does it cost extra?

Participation in committees is a benefit of the Dutch Chamber membership. There is no extra fee or separate application process. To sign up, please send an email to us at info@dutchchamber.hk and indicate which committee(s) you are interested in.
