The Netherlands - Corporate Innovation and Urban Sustainability
While the Dutch may seem to be obsessed by the colour orange, the Netherlands is striving hard to be the world leader in green initiatives and innovative R&D. For many years, the country has been a pioneer in new innovations and policies to drive urban sustainability.
As governments and corporations look for innovative solutions to address climate change, the Netherlands has been making strong advances in meeting its sustainability goals, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It has committed to providing 50% of the county's electricity through renewable energy by 2025.
Led by world-class research institutes, supportive R&D tax credits and a number of strategic partnerships among universities, industry and government, the Netherlands is also using technology and innovation to increase its competitiveness while reducing its carbon footprint.
The Dutch Chamber of Commerce is co-hosting this event about The Netherlands with the Europe Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. Annemieke Ruigrok, Consul General of the Netherlands, and Aart Jan den Hartog, Country Manager and Head of Wholesale Banking Greater China & Mongalia of ING Bank N.V., Hong Kong, will give an overview of the country's economy. They will also discuss policies that help companies boost their innovation as well as promote eco-friendly business development. Grant Sprick, Global Director of Sustainability of Arcadis, will discuss sustainable strategies and infrastructure in the Netherlands.
